Stamford Memorial post 9179 VFW would like to thank American Heritage Girls Troop TX0810 for inviting us to spend time with their troop yesterday and teach American flag etiquette.
We had the opportunity to talk about the history and meaning of our flag, proper respect and display, flag ceremonies, and the proper way to fold and handle the American flag. Most importantly, the girls were able to get hands-on experience practicing these traditions themselves.
It was a privilege to share some of the customs and traditions surrounding our nation's flag with such an attentive group of young people. Passing this knowledge from one generation to the next is an important part of what we do, and we appreciate Troop TX0810 giving us the opportunity to be part of their program.
Thank you to the troop leaders, parents, and especially the girls for welcoming us and participating!
